Overview
Cheat Sheet
Financials
• Your Financials form a relevant part of your account as this is the entire basis for you to be selling on Walmart.
• You can locate your Financials Page by clicking on the “Overview” link beneath the “Analytics” heading on your Walmart Seller Center account.
• The very first block on this page will be your Financials and you can immediately see the following information in that block:
* GMV or Gross Merchandise Volume;
* GMV % Change (against last year);
* Units; and
* GMV Commissions;
• And all for the Last 7 days, last 14 days and last 30 days.
• But now what exactly is Gross Merchandise Volume?
• Gross Merchandise Volume, also referred to as Gross Merchandise Value, is the total amount of sales a company makes over a specified period of time, typically measured quarterly or yearly.
• GMV is calculated before accrued expenses are deducted. Accrued expenses include costs associated with advertising/marketing.
• So, essentially, your GMV refers to your total sales excluding any expenses.
• The GMV % Change will refer to the percentage difference between this time this year and this time last year.
• Units will obviously mean the number of actual items you have sold and the GMV Commissions refer to Walmart’s Commission on your Sales.
• If you click on the “View Financial Details” link below this block, you will be taken through to the “Financials” page under your “Performance” Heading so we will look at this report in more depth later in the “Performance” Section of this course.
• For now, we would just like to include a little side note on Walmart’s Commission Fee structure.
• There are separate referral fees charged for different categories.
• But be aware that these categories are the ones that are listed in the Walmart Online Marketplace Retailer Agreement.
• They don’t match with the categories that you use for Product/Item Setup.
• The table here shows you the overview of what these referral fees are per category and concludes that the Walmart fee structure is commission based only.
