Amazon Seller Central Catalog Management
Section 3: Editing Products in Seller Central
Cheat Sheet
How to edit Items Manually in your Catalog
• In order to edit existing product items in your Catalog, select “Manage Inventory” from the Drop Down Menu of the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• Alongside each Product Item is a grey button saying “Edit”.
• Click on this and select “Edit” if you wish to edit details of the listing or select “Manage Images” if you wish to go straight to updating the images.
• You will also notice in this Drop Down Menu is the action to “Delete Product and Listing”.
• This only refers to removing your SKU from your Seller Central Catalog but not from Amazon entirely.
• Once you have selected the “Edit” button, you will be taken to the SKU listing page where you can edit any and all information in the following tabs:
* Vital Information, which is your SKU, Product Name, Brand Name, Manufacturer, et cetera;
* Variations tab where you can edit your Variations in the table of Child ASINs;
* Offer Tab where you put in your pricing, gifting and fulfilment options;
* Compliance tab where you need to enter any information regarding batteries and hazmat should your product fall into any of these categories;
* Images tab where you can upload your main and secondary images;
* Description tab where you enter your product features, description and other pertinent information;
* Keywords tab where you enter as many types of keywords as possible; and
* More Details tab where you can enter any additional information and details.
• Once you have completed all the edits you wish to, click on the yellow “Save and Finish” button at the bottom of the page.
• Your product listing details will then have been updated successfully.
• Most of the time, for brand registered sellers, the updated information will show up on the Amazon detail page within 24 hours.
• But, if you are not brand registered and the updated details do not show up on the detail page, you need to contact support to update the details by creating a case with them and provide the requested information to update the content.
• Sometimes, even when you are brand registered the content does not go through, you can then contact the brand registry team or seller support to get the content updated.
• When you are brand registered, it is always better to contact the brand registry team.
How to edit Items via File Templates in your Catalog
• If you have a number of product SKUs that you would like to update, amend or edit, we would recommend that you do so via a File Template instead.
• Select the “Add Products via Upload” option from the Drop Down Menu of the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• On the next page, scroll down to the “Inventory File” header at the bottom of the page and click the “Category-Specific Inventory Files” alongside the “Inventory Updates – Update Listing Data Only” File Type and Use Case.
• In the Pop-Up Window that appears, scroll down to the “Choose a File Template” Header and click on the “Category Specific Inventory Files Template” link to download the template alongside the “Inventory Updates – Update Listing Data Only” File Type and Use Case.
• This will take you through to the Category-Specific Templates table where you can also locate your category-specific style guide and browse tree guide.
• The Category Specific Inventory Template File you are familiar with as you used it when you loaded products that were not yet being sold by other sellers on Amazon.
• If you are not updating all the details, you can select “Partial Update” in the “Update/Delete” column and update part of the information in the Category Specific Inventory Files.
• You can now save your files in .txt format or excel format (.csv or .xls) before returning to the “Add Products via Upload” page and uploading them on the second tab “Check and Upload Inventory Files”.
• Be reminded that if you are brand-registered then the updates will show up within 24 hours, otherwise you need to create a case through support to request the updates and attach the relevant file.
• If the ASIN you wish to update needs to be added to the Brand Registry or for any scenario when support asks you to do a complete update, you would need to do a complete update in this file and fill out all the fields as though you are creating the ASIN for the first time.
• We recommend that you always use the Category-Specific Inventory Template when updating your listings.
• You can also use the Inventory Loader Template found in the same place as the Category-Specific Template File but remember the Data Definitions Worksheet and the relevant alphabet and numerical values needed in some of the drop down fields of the worksheet.
• Because you are updating certain fields and information for your listings, you must remember to select the letter “a – update/add” in the “Add/Delete” Drop Down column.
• Complete only that information you need to update but remember that you HAVE to use your product SKU in the first column in this worksheet in order for your updates to occur for the relevant product SKU.
• Once you have completed all that you need to edit in this file, save it and upload it
to Seller Central by going to the “Add Products via Upload” option from the Drop Down Menu of the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• On the next page, click on the “Check and Upload Your Inventory File” at the top of the page, scroll down to Step 2 and upload your file as before.
• It needs to be noted here that, the Inventory Loader Template will only help to update a very minimal part of the listing, which is why the Category-Specific Template is preferred.
• Should you wish to edit images, you can either use the “Listing Loader” Template found in the same place as the “Inventory Loader” Template or you can edit your images manually as per the previous video by selecting “Manage Images” from the grey “Edit” button to the right of each product listing.
How to edit Pricing
• There are several ways in which you can edit pricing on Seller Central for your product listings.
• You can select “Manage Inventory” from the Drop Down Menu of the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• Alongside each listing, you can manually edit the pricing in the “Price + Shipping” or “Business Price + Shipping” columns.
• Remember to click the yellow “Save All” button at the top right side of the table to save your changes.
• You can also click the “Manage Pricing” link at the top of this page and edit your prices here.
• We will look at this option in a little more detail in a later video.
• The third option is to use the pricing update template. Select the “Add Products via Upload” option from the Drop Down Menu of the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• On the next page, scroll down to the “Inventory File” header at the bottom of the page and click the “Price and Quantity” link alongside the “Inventory Updates – For Updates to Price and Quantity Only” File Type and Use Case.
• In the Pop-Up window, download the “Price and Quantity File Template”.
• Always remember to refer to the “Data Definitions” Worksheet while completing the Template.
• You will need to enter your SKU and then the relevant pricing as described in the “Data Definitions” Worksheet.
• Once you have completed all the pricing updates, save your file and upload it to Seller Central by going to the “Add Products via Upload” option from the Drop Down Menu of the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• On the next page, click on the “Check and Upload Your Inventory File” at the top of the page, scroll down to Step 2 and upload your file as before.
How to add and remove videos for your Listing
• If you are registered with Amazon’s Brand Registry, you will be able to upload videos for your product listings.
• If you are not registered with Amazon’s Brand Registry then this function will not be available to you on your Seller Central Account.
• For the purposes of this video, we will walk you through how to Upload and Manage your Video Listings as though you do have access to this function.
• From the “Inventory” tab Drop Down Menu on the top menu of Seller Central, select the “Upload and Manage Videos” function.
• On the next page, click the “Upload Video” button. On the following page, put in your Video Title, the ASIN or ASINs this video relates to, the thumbnail and then upload your video.
• Once all information has been uploaded, click the “Submit” button in the bottom right side of the page.
• In order to manage or edit your videos, select “Upload & Manage Videos” from the Drop Down Menu under the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• Alongside the relevant video, click the “delete” button to delete the video or the “Manage” button if you wish to make any changes to the current upload.
• You can then make changes to the title, include more ASINs and swop out the thumbnail if you so choose.
How to delete or remove Items from your Catalog
• There are several ways in which you can delete or remove items from your Catalog. The first is by selecting “Manage Inventory” from the Drop Down Menu of the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• Alongside each Product Item is a grey button saying “Edit”.
• Click on this and select “Delete Product and Listing”.
• This only refers to removing your SKU from your Seller Central Catalog but not from Amazon entirely.
• You can also select multiple products on this page, go to the Drop Down Menu at the top left hand side of the table named “Action on X selected” and select “Delete Products and Listings”.
• This will again only remove the SKU from your catalog and not from Amazon.
• The second way is to use the “Inventory Loader” Template.
• In the Pop-Up Window that appears, scroll down to the “Choose a File Template” Header and click on one of the “Inventory Loader” link to download the template alongside the “Inventory Updates – Update Listing Data Only” File Type and Use Case.
• Because you are deleting listings, you must remember to select the letter “d – delete” in the “Add/Delete” Drop Down column.
• This will remove the listings from your Catalog on Seller Central but not from Amazon.
• You can also use this to delete a SKU you wish to reuse for a different product and would need to first delete the old version of the SKU before creating a whole new product listing for that same SKU.
• You can also choose the letter “x – completely from system” in the “Add/Delete” Drop Down column and this will remove this SKU completely off of Amazon’s system, but not the ASIN if it is being sold by other sellers.
• Once you have completed the changes to your SKU using the “d” or “x: letter, save your file and upload it to Seller Central by going to the “Add Products via Upload” option from the Drop Down Menu of the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• On the next page, click on the “Check and Upload Your Inventory File” at the top of the page, scroll down to Step 2 and upload your file as before.
• There is one final way in which to delete all of your product listings, essentially, deleting your entire catalog in one go, which we would obviously not recommend unless you are liquidating or similar.
• You can do this by going to the “Add Products via Upload” option from the Drop Down Menu of the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• On the next page, click on the “Check and Upload Your Inventory File” at the top of the page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the bold red text “Purge and Replace Your Inventory”.
• Select the “Inventory Uploader” Template with all of your SKUs listed within and the “x” value selected in the “Add/Delete” column.
• Then click on the yellow “Purge and Replace” button at the bottom.
How to change from FBM to FBA and Vice Versa
• In order to change your Fulfillment Options from Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) to Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) or Vice Versa, select “Manage Inventory” from the Drop Down Menu of the “Inventory” tab on the top menu of Seller Central.
• Select which products you would like to change to Fulfillment options for, click on the grey “Actions on X selected” button in the top left side of the table and select “Convert to Fulfilled by Amazon” if you are wanting Amazon to fulfil these products for consumers’ orders going forward or “Change to Fulfilled by Merchant” if you wish to now fulfil consumer orders from your own warehouse.
• Note that you cannot convert Parent ASINs to FBA.
• Select your Child ASINs and click “Change to Fulfilled by Amazon” from the “Actions on X Selected” button at the top of the table.
• On the next page, if you click on the “Convert and Send to Amazon” button then you will launch the Shipment Plan page for this ASIN.
• If you click on the “Convert Only” button Amazon will ask whether these ASINs require batteries or any hazmat certifications.
• If you select yes for either of these options then further drop down options will appear. For the purpose of this video, we will select no for both options.
• After clicking the “Convert” button, your ASINs will then show up on the FBA Inventory Page.
• Alternately, if you wish to convert from FBA to FBM, select your Child ASINs you wish to convert and select “Change to Fulfilled by Merchant” from the “Actions on X Selected” button.
• On the next page, click the “Convert” button to save your changes.
